Last weekend, RB Leipzig won the DFB-Pokal victory against SC Freiburg, the first major title in the club's history.

Who are the big favorites FC Bayern, Borussia Dortmund and Leipzig as the defending champions? We'll know more in a moment.

+++ Großkreutz and Neuendorf draw lots +++

The first Cup round will be drawn from 19:15 at the German Football Museum in Dortmund.

World Champion Kevin Großkreutz is in action as a runner-up. Actually, DFB President Bernd Neuendorf should also be present, but he is ill - DFB Vice President Peter Frymuth is standing in for him.

+++ DFB Cup draw of the 1st round: who is there? +++

In addition to the 36 professional teams of the 1st and 2nd Bundesliga of the past season, the four best-placed teams of the 3rd League from the previous season are always sure to be there. This year these are the 1. FC Magdeburg, Eintracht Braunschweig, the 1. FC Kaiserslautern and 1860 Munich.

In addition to these 40 teams, there are the 21 State Cup winners as well as an additional team from each of the three largest member state associations Bavaria, North Rhine-Westphalia and Lower Saxony.

+++ DFB-Pokal: When will the matches of the 1st round be played? +++

The matches of the 1st round of the DFB Cup in the 2022/23 season will take place from July 29 to August 1 - with one exception!

Since the German champions FC Bayern and Cup winner RB Leipzig will be playing for the Supercup on July 30, 2022, the two Bundesliga clubs will not play their first-round matches until August 30/31, 2022.
